We're John & Rachel!

We opened The Hutch in 2018 and we're so glad we did!

The Hutch is a unique gift shop selling the creations of makers, artists and designers. When we opened we only had sellers from Yorkshire, but as the years have passed, we couldn't keep it that way.....it didn't feel right missing out on talent from all over the country, so we opened our doors to many more artisans from all over the UK. The majority though, are still from Yorkshire.

We rent space to artisans and we also now buy wholesale from their small businesses. We keep our costs affordable as it's really important to us that the creative folk out there have a platform. To sell from and share space with likeminded people is such a lovely thing to be a part of.

Along our Hutch journey so far, we've realised that many people use making as a therapy, it can be an escape for many and an outlet to help them along a tricky journey. Quite honestly, that's the best part of our business. Knowing that we're possibly helping them with that by selling their creations feels good and gives the shop a real purpose.

So, that's The Hutch.......We always make sure that everything we stock is lovingly made, designed, created by small independent businesses, so we hope you'll be able to pop in and see for yourselves.
